Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026
Tech Stack Detector ("we", "us", "the service") is a free website technology analyzer available at techstackdetector.com. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the service, why we collect it, and how we handle it.
What the service does
You enter a website address and our server fetches that page once, the same way a normal browser would, to identify the technologies it is built with. The analysis happens on our server; we do not install anything on your device or on the scanned website.
Information we collect
- The website addresses (URLs) you scan, together with the scan results (detected technologies, response headers, page title and timing).
- A random visitor identifier stored in a cookie (see "Cookies" below) so that your recent scans can be shown in your private history.
- A one-way cryptographic hash (SHA-256) of your IP address, used only to enforce fair-use rate limits. We do not store your IP address itself.
- Technical error reports (error messages, the page on which an error occurred and browser version information) used solely to fix problems with the service.
Information we do not collect
- We do not require accounts, names, email addresses or any other personal details to use the service.
- We do not sell, rent or share any collected information with third parties for marketing purposes.
- We do not track you across other websites.
Cookies
- A visitor identifier cookie (random value, kept for up to one year) that links your scans to your private scan history. It contains no personal information.
- A standard session cookie, required for security features such as form protection. It expires when you close your browser.
- If our analytics setting is enabled, Google Analytics may set its own cookies (see "Third-party services" below).
- If enabled by the site administrator, Microsoft Clarity records how you use the site (clicks, scrolling, mouse movement and page views) to help us improve usability, and may use cookies to recognise returning visits. Recordings capture on-page behaviour, not keystrokes in sensitive fields. Data is processed by Microsoft under the Microsoft Privacy Statement (privacy.microsoft.com); you can prevent this by blocking analytics scripts in your browser.
Scan results are public
Scan results describe publicly accessible websites and are cached on our servers. A cached result for a website may be shown to any visitor who looks up the same website, and indexed result pages may appear in search engines. Results never include personal information about you, only technical facts about the scanned website.
Third-party services
- Google Fonts serves the typefaces used by this site, which means your browser requests font files from Google's servers.
- Google's favicon service is used to display the icon of scanned websites.
- If enabled by the site administrator, Google Analytics 4 collects aggregated usage statistics (pages visited, approximate location, device type). You can opt out using Google's browser add-on or by blocking analytics scripts.
Data retention
- Scan results are kept until they are replaced by a newer scan of the same website or removed by the administrator.
- Error reports are kept for a limited period and are automatically rotated.
- You can request removal of a scan result for a website you own or operate by contacting us.
Security
The service runs over HTTPS. Administrative access is password-protected, passwords are stored only as cryptographic hashes, and the scanner is restricted from accessing private networks.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete data relating to you. Because we collect almost no personal data, the most common request is removal of a scanned website's results, which we honour for verified site owners.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the latest revision. Continued use of the service after changes means you accept the updated policy.

For privacy questions or removal requests, contact the site administrator via the contact details published on techstackdetector.com.
